Wynnum Library Opening

On Tuesday 24 May at 9am the new Wynnum Library will open in Florence Street. This is a long awaited project which I am happy to see completed.

The Wynnum Library provides great services for all ages with story book time for babies and toddlers, craft, computer lessons for all ages.

Over 200,000 people visited the old library last financial year.

The Library will also have space for community groups to use and people to hire. It will have a new state of the art borrowing system as well as upgraded computers and iPads for use in the library by visitors.

 

There will be an official Community Library Open Day on Saturday 28 May from 9am to 2.00pm in the grounds of the library and the parklands of the Community Centre, adjacent to the library.
Open Day events will include:-
9am Cheese making workshop;
9.30am Children's drop in Makerspace craft until 1.30pm;
9.30am First 5 Forever children's story time;
9.30am and 11.15am Live performance by children's band, the Fabulous Lemon Drops;
10am Live performances by Chris Tamwoy, 2016 Australia's Got Talent Top 5 finalist,
10am Fandom Haven activities;
10.45am Tinker Table until 12.30pm;
10.50am Wynnum State high School Symphony Orchestra,
11.15am Gardening workshop with ABC Radio gardening presenter, Annette McFarlane;
12.30pm Queensland Services Heritage Brass band,
12noon Local poets and writers;
12noon Giant Games;
12.30pm Local history talk with Wynnum's history librarian, Kate Harbison
12.30pm Children's film-making workshop;
12.30pm Children's cartooning workshop with Mark Guthrie, Walt Disney animator and illustrator for DMag, K-Zone and Mania.
