Queensland Theatre’s 2026 season brings new voices and reimagined classics to Brisbane stages

Queensland Theatre’s first season programmed by Artistic Director Daniel Evans will include world premieres, award-winning works, reimagined classics and collaborations with Queensland artists.

Wynnum-Manly theatre-goers will have a new Queensland Theatre season to follow in 2026, with the company promising a program built around world premieres, award-winning works, reimagined classics, fresh voices and collaborations with Queensland artists.

The season is the first programmed by Queensland Theatre’s new Artistic Director, Daniel Evans. The company says the program centres on work with a strong emotional impact, bringing together stories intended to be experienced collectively rather than simply consumed.

Highlighted productions include Strong is the New Pretty 1 – 19 Sep 2026 Playhouse, described as a nail-biting showdown and an inspiring story of determination, legacy and pride. The season will also feature Into the Woods 11 – 21 Nov 2026 Glasshouse Theatre, a collaboration between Opera Queensland and Queensland Theatre. The reimagined musical explores what happens after traditional fairytales reach their supposedly happy endings.

For bayside residents, the announcement provides an early look at major Brisbane theatre programming that may be of interest when production details become available.
