Wynnum-Manly residents who use Brisbane’s inner-city parks, sporting facilities or major event venues can have their say on the proposed future of the Victoria Park precinct. Public consultation on the Victoria Park Precinct Draft Legacy Plan is open until Sunday 27 September 2026.
The precinct is planned to connect Victoria Park with the new Brisbane Stadium, the National Aquatic Centre and the Brisbane Showgrounds. The draft plan proposes keeping Victoria Park free and open to the public year-round, with around two-thirds of the park remaining green and publicly accessible.
Ideas included in the draft include a public amphitheatre, footbridges linking parts of the city, forest trails and walkways, expanded York’s Hollow wetlands and a community sports hub with an athletics track. These proposals are at the planning and consultation stage, so the final mix of facilities will depend on the planning process and community feedback.
The wider precinct is also being prepared for major sporting and entertainment activity associated with Brisbane’s 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. At the Brisbane Showgrounds, a new 20,000-seat Main Arena is planned, along with grandstands, a horse pavilion and accessibility upgrades. Work is expected to begin in September 2026, with Hutchinson Builders selected for the project.
